Phlo Technologies: PR and Thought Leadership for a Scaling Digital Pharmacy

Phlo Technologies is one of the UK's leading digital pharmacies, serving patients directly and running the B2B infrastructure that other healthcare providers build on. We ran a long-running PR and thought leadership programme that kept Phlo visible as its business grew and changed, amplifying its fundraises, positioning its founder and pharmacists as authorities in digital health, and turning major moments like its Morrisons Clinic partnership into national coverage. The work gave Phlo a consistent, credible voice through several phases of growth.

Phlo Technologies: PR and Thought Leadership for a Scaling Digital Pharmacy

Solution

Phlo Technologies is one of the UK's leading digital pharmacies. It delivers NHS and private prescriptions to patients' doors, often same day, and runs the B2B infrastructure, Phlo Connect, that lets other healthcare providers plug digital pharmacy and prescribing into their own services.

It is a busy, fast-moving corner of healthtech. High street pharmacy is under real pressure, providers are racing to go digital, and a growing number of companies are competing for the same patients and partners. Phlo sits across two audiences at once, consumers who want their medication handled properly and businesses who want to build on its platform, which makes for a rich but complicated story to tell.

We worked with Phlo across several years and several phases of its growth, from its core digital pharmacy and Phlo Connect offering to its move into women's health and, later, weight loss. Through each shift, Phlo needed the same things: to differentiate its dual consumer and B2B model, to raise its profile with investors, partners and media, and to keep its founder and senior team visible as credible voices in digital health.

Thought leadership and media relations

We built relationships with the media outlets that mattered to Phlo and used them to place the team's expertise where investors and partners would see it. Working across regional, national and sector-specific titles, we positioned Phlo's people as authorities on digital pharmacy, connected care and the future of the sector, rather than simply chasing coverage for its own sake.

Fundraise and milestone communications

We amplified Phlo's business milestones through press releases and exclusive interviews, placing each story where it would carry the most weight. When Phlo raised a £9 million growth round, we secured coverage across 17 national, trade and tech titles in a single wave, from The Times and UKTN to Digital Health and Business Cloud, ahead of the agreed media targets. Earlier funding news and its acquisition of Truepill's UK arm were handled the same way, keeping Phlo's momentum visible to the audiences that mattered most.

Founder and expert profiling

We put Phlo's founder and pharmacists in front of the right audiences as spokespeople, from a founder interview in Intelligent Health Tech to women's health thought leadership in Huffington Post and Future Fem Health. We also secured podcast appearances and speaking slots that showcased the breadth of skill inside the business, from pharmacy operations to technology and commercial strategy, giving Phlo's team a natural platform to talk about the problems they were solving in their own words.

Partnership launches

When Phlo partnered with Morrisons to launch the Morrisons Clinic, an online private prescription service, we ran the launch communications. The announcement generated 23 pieces of coverage and an estimated 140.2 million audience reach, landing across national, health trade and consumer media including The Scotsman, Chemist and Druggist, Pharmacy Magazine, MSN and The Mirror.

Results

  • A £9m growth round carried across 17 titles: Phlo's April 2024 raise landed in national, trade and tech press in a single wave, from The Times and UKTN to Digital Health, Business Cloud and Pharmacy Business, ahead of the agreed media targets.
  • A retail partnership seen an estimated 140m times: the launch of the Morrisons Clinic with Phlo drew 23 pieces of coverage and an estimated 140.2m audience reach, including The Scotsman, The Mirror, MSN, Chemist and Druggist and Pharmacy Magazine.
  • Founders and experts placed as authorities: Phlo's founder and pharmacists were profiled where their audiences read, from an Intelligent Health Tech founder interview to women's health thought leadership in Huffington Post and Future Fem Health.
  • A steady voice through every pivot: across Phlo Connect, women's health and weight loss, we kept Phlo visible in business, trade and consumer media as its priorities shifted, giving it a consistent presence in a fast-moving market.

Reflection

Phlo was never a single campaign. Over several years we ran its PR through fundraises, a shift into women's health, a move into weight loss and a major retail partnership, keeping a technical and operationally minded team visible and credible through each change of direction. The work took a genuinely differentiated but complicated dual-audience business and made it legible to investors, partners and media without flattening it. It meant knowing when to lead with the founder, when to lead with a pharmacist, and when to let a milestone like the Morrisons Clinic launch or a £9 million raise do the talking. Since our work together, Phlo has gone on to considerable scale, named in the Sunday Times 100 Tech 2026 and reporting 500% year-on-year revenue growth as its consumer and B2B businesses expanded across the UK.
