Pfizer Medical Affairs: A Clinical Explainer Series for Healthcare Professionals

Solution
An editorial benchmark for clinical content
The reference point was Vox's Explained series: tight pacing, confident graphics, and a refusal to be boring with serious material. SomX took that as the editorial benchmark and built the production around it. Fast cuts, motion design as a teaching tool rather than decoration, and a tone that respected the audience's time.
Clinician-led scripting
The series started with clinicians. SomX brought practising healthcare professionals into the room to shape the topics, sense-check the science, and pressure-test the narrative before anything moved into storyboarding. That meant the scripts read as authoritative to the HCPs watching them, not as marketing copy with a lab coat on.
Filming inside a working clinical environment
Production took place at Great Ormond Street Hospital with videographers and editors experienced in clinical settings. People who know how to work around a live lab, handle infection control, and frame medical equipment so it reads clearly on screen. Animators then translated the more abstract microbiology into visuals that did the explaining the camera couldn't: tests, processes, mechanisms, all rendered so an HCP could follow them at pace.
Built inside the Pfizer brand system
Colour palette, graphic language, on-screen typography and motion all aligned with Pfizer Medical Affairs guidelines from the first frame. The series sits coherently alongside the rest of the platform it was built for, with no visible seam between SomX's production and Pfizer's wider HCP estate.

Results
- A complete clinical explainer series: written, filmed, animated and delivered end to end by SomX, now hosted on Pfizer's own HCP platform.
- Filmed inside a working clinical environment: on-location at Great Ormond Street Hospital, with practising clinicians shaping the scripts before production began.
- Editorial pacing built for a clinical audience: Explained-style structure, animation-led teaching and a tone calibrated for senior HCPs, not for compliance.
- Brand-perfect output: colour, typography and graphic language fully aligned with Pfizer Medical Affairs guidelines, sitting seamlessly inside the wider platform.
Reflection
"These are excellent resources, and we really look forward to generating noise about these internally." Dele, Pfizer
"We absolutely love these internally; this is exactly what we wanted. Incredibly engaging and high-quality work. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the entire SomX team." Aman, Pfizer
The Pfizer series is a clean example of what SomX is built to do in multimedia: take genuinely complex clinical content, treat it with the editorial seriousness it deserves, and produce something an HCP will actually choose to watch. Working inside Pfizer's brand system wasn't a constraint, it was the point. The job was to prove that on-brand, clinically rigorous content doesn't have to look or feel like compliance training. The series did that, and now lives on Pfizer's platform as part of how the company educates its professional audience.
