Capturing a Mental Health Innovation Network Event on Film at Hale House

The Mental Health Innovation Network ran a half-day event on funding routes for mental health founders, hosted at Hale House. SomX produced the content from the day: a highlight film and a full set of event photography. Working from a single morning, we captured the talks, the room and a series of short interviews with founders, investors and the host, then edited a film built to keep working as event content long after the day itself.

Capturing a Mental Health Innovation Network Event on Film at Hale House

Solution

The Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN) brings together founders, investors and clinicians working to improve mental health care. In April 2026 it ran a half-day event on a practical question for early-stage founders: how to find the right capital, not just any capital, and map a route through the funding landscape. The event was held at Hale House, 76 Portland Place, the Harley Street Health District venue SomX supports.

An event like this happens once. The talks, the conversations and the energy in the room are easy to lose the moment the day ends. MHIN wanted the day captured properly, as content that could carry the conversation to the founders who could not attend.

SomX produced the event content end to end.

Pre-production and brief

We scoped what the day needed and built a clear brief for a photographer and videographer, covering the run of the morning, the interview plan and the shots required for the edit. We coordinated with the venue team on access, timings and audio, arranging a direct feed from the room's PA so speaker audio was clean.

Filming and photography on the day

We ran a single-camera shoot across the morning, capturing the talks, the speakers and the room, alongside a full set of event photography. The core of the film was a series of short interviews recorded on site, deliberately balanced across perspectives: the host, an investor view and a founder view, so the final edit reflected the range of voices in the room rather than a single angle.

Edit and delivery

Our editor cut a highlight film from the day, paced for social, with captions, on-screen name tags and motion graphics. We produced the film for the host venue's channels and built it to flex, with shorter, MHIN-branded cuts so the event partner could use the content across its own audiences too.

Results

  • A complete record of the day: a highlight film and a full set of event photography produced from a single morning's shoot.
  • A balanced edit: short-form interviews capturing host, investor and founder perspectives, so the film reflected the real range of voices in the room.
  • Content built to travel: a captioned, social-ready film with name tags and motion graphics, plus shorter event-partner-branded cuts, timed to run during Mental Health Awareness Month.
  • One event, lasting reach: a single half-day turned into owned content that kept the funding-routes conversation in front of founders who could not be there.

Reflection

This is the kind of work SomX is built for: turning a live moment into content that lasts. An event runs for a morning; a well-made film and photo set keep its ideas circulating for months. By planning the shoot around the edit from the start, briefing tightly and capturing a deliberate spread of voices, we gave the Mental Health Innovation Network and Hale House a piece of content with a clear job to do, carrying a practical conversation about funding to the founders who needed it.
